Major at Williams: Studio Art and Art History

Last year, I retired from editorial cartooning after a 44-year career (the example here is one of my favorites, drawn for the morning after Election Day 2016).

A few years ago, in a happy coincidence, my wife gave me a box of exotic wood veneer samples and a friend dumped a truckload of surplus mahogany in my wood shop. I started doing marquetry inlay as well as creating what I like to call “architectural sculpture” using everyday objects as my medium. The hanging room divider, for example, is viewable from both sides. As you can see, my work is heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.
